Character Name: Erik, The Phantom
Series: The Phantom of the Opera (specifically 2004 movie)
Timeframe: Post Notes, Pre-Il Muto
Background:
If I write this out, it's going to be super long. So here's some links instead.
The Musical | Erik
Though it should be noted that Erik's background differs from the original stage play. He was a child in the circus and after strangling his captor, he was rescued by Madam Giry and spent the rest of his childhood in the catacombs of the opera house.
Personality:
Erik is an enigma wrapped in mystery wrapped in bacon. The harsh treatment Erik encountered has turned him almost entirely against people. He is distrustful of them. He has become a shut in, and does not like being around big crowds, unless he's threatening them. He likes his comings and goings to be secret and would prefer to keep his residence from public knowledge, so he's become a bit of a master of lurking in shadows. It adds to the mysterious air about him. But Erik the man is an awkward duck when it comes right down to one-on-one interactions. His fingers are almost always moving, smoothing out his hair or smoothing a wrinkle in his jacket. Stuff like that.
He is full of self loathing because of the condition of his face. It has caused people to shun him and he shuns them in return. Which makes him a little hard pressed to show sympathy or concern for anyone outside of the people he has accepted into his circle. And the only person in that circle is Christine.
Erik is also very artistically inclined (which makes him misunderstood by default) and loves just about everything that has to do with the arts. Musical theater, however, is his forte. He is a composer and that is where his heart and soul lies. Christine is his muse and inspiration, so most of what he writes is usually with her in mind.
Speaking of Christine, Erik is in love with her. Some might call it obsession. But eh, toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe. When it comes to this young lady, Erik is extremely possessive, to the point that he would even forbid her childhood friend from seeing her. He spies on her from behind her mirror and likes to kidnap her from time to time, when Raoul gets too close. Raoul is his eternal rival forever and Erik will do anything to keep Raoul from getting Christine.
He's also very pushy. He orders the Populaire population around like he owns them and in a lot of ways, he thinks he does. He considers the opera house his, since he's the resident musical genius and that gives him a free pass to order people around and do whatever he wants. And when his demands are not met to his satisfaction or ignored completely? I suggest the stagehands calling in sick for a while. But all of that is for Christine. Because he loves her.
So to sum it all up, Erik is an unstable, obsessive musical genius who is in love with a girl he's stalked since she was 7. Good times.
Appearance:
Masked and Unmasked. Please note that while the 2004 movie kind of bungled Erik's deformity, he is pretty gross looking. So his face will be at its worse, which is the picture I linked.
Abilities: Erik is a genius, composer, an architect, designer, magician, illusionist, and ventriloquist. Other than that, he's an ordinary human being.
Items: His clothes and his mask. Sword has been confiscated.
Preferred Quarters: None!
Third Person Sample: The Erik and Raoul Show was the best
First Person Sample: Seriously, Erik and Raoul are a national treasure

2nd Measure
[It didn't take Erik long to locate the bower. His search for Christine was proving fruitless and when he found this place, he had hoped the musical nature of the building would draw his beloved out. He would return everyday, a habit that become almost second nature in the time since arriving at the keep.
Christine was never there, sadly. Still undeterred, Erik decided it was time to switch tactics. If he could not find her directly, he would draw her out. And what better way than through music? Unfortunately, the harpsichord was painfully out of tune.
So after rifling around, he finds a violin he can tolerate. After tuning it a bit, he lifts the instrument and begins to play. The melody is somber. Erik is rusty. It's been a while since he's played a violin.]

The 001st Measure ✘ Text
[When scanning for new posts, you may happen to stumble across something most curious. The text scrawled across the page are not words, but notes. Intricately strung together notes to form a basic composition. Though from the looks at the complex melody, it certainly doesn't seem very basic.
Still, anyone with any musical aptitude may be able to tell that it is meant for a soprano, to be sung delicately. Softly. Hopefully it will reach his intended target.
And it is conveniently signed with the composer's name...
O.G.
At the bottom of his post, written in ornate letters, is a note. Simple. If the intended target finds this, they'll know what it means.]
It is time to return to me.
